Helen is a textile designer, based at the Chocolate Factory studios N16, London. She hand screen prints designs for a variety of interior accessories. With over 25 years experience in screen printing and an MA in mixed media/embroidery at the RCA, her print and stitched lampshades, cushion and collages have sold in many independent and larger design stores throughout the UK. She now sells her work exclusively through her online shop and offers screen printing classes in small groups to both adults and children from her colourful print filled studio.
UFC have linked with local artist Helen Rawlinson, to bring you a Botanical inspired sreenprinting workshop. This beginner's class is a great opportunity to learn the basic techniques of screen printing on to fabric.
Helen will start with a quick sample print and guide you through the whole process. You'll then have time to create paper stencils using scissors and/or scalpel, ready to print your own unique designs on to a tote bag. You'll be drawing inspiration straight from the gorgeous display of plants and flowers here at the Urban Flower Co and the evening will offer a wonderful combination of mindful drawing and cutting to full on hands on printing fun.
Please note that this class does not involve the photographic process of exposing images on to screen. Information can be supplied about this process but we will only be using paper stencils in this session given the short time frame.
As printing can get quite messy, aprons will be provided but please consider wearing clothes/shoes you don't mind getting a little dirty.
